Gregory Aziz was born in Ontario, on 30th April 1949. He went to Ridley College and later proceeded to the University of Ontario where he specialized in Economics. After completing his studies, he worked for nearly two decades in the Affiliated Foods, which is his family business. Through his contribution to the company, the company expanded and is currently a world based fresh foods importer.
In the 1990s, Gregory Aziz moved to New York in search of banking opportunities. This was in preparation for his big dream of owning the National Steel Car Company. In 1994, he successfully purchased the firm from Dofasco. Although the company was not so stable then, he had what was needed to revive the company.
James Aziz encouraged team building sessions to enhance cooperation among his employees. This was one strategy that could significantly improve the company. Five years down the line, he finally began to enjoy the fruits of his labor. The annual output of the railroad freight cars increased to 12000 from 3500. Subsequently, the employment posts increased from 600 to 3000. This change was much celebrated by the community who got absorbed in the company. For all the years he has been the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, he has been nothing but an asset.
Gregory Aziz is also a philanthropist and has greatly supported the charitable organizations in Ontario. Greg and his wife also regularly sponsor the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and is known to support Theater Aquarius, Hamilton Opera, United Way, Salvation Army and various food banks. The residents consider him as the most influential business person in Ontario.
Besides being a successful businessman and a great humanitarian, he is also a family man. Gregory Aziz, together with his wife Irene has two daughters. He spares time for his family. They enjoy horse riding together during their family outings.
